  • Overview

    Our Manager, Technical Accounting will report directly to our Vice President, Corporate Controller. The Manager, Technical Accounting will act as a proactive partner with the leaders of the Company, serving as the first point of contact on technical issues related to end-to-end business/accounting process improvement, internal control over financial reporting, and merger and acquisition activities. You also will assist with the evaluation and documentation of complex accounting transactions, and will provide input into the development of global accounting policies and procedures.

     

    You can expect to be working on multiple projects at any given time, and some will require fast turnaround. Most will require you to read through complex documents, identify the relevant accounting issues, and then conduct research to address the issues. For instance, a recent deal wasn't particularly large, but required review of more than 10 to 30 legal/financial documents.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversees Company’s on-going global compliance with internal control over financial reporting.
    • Conduct accounting policy research, including providing support to Corporate Controller and CFO on special projects to implement new accounting pronouncements as necessary.
    • Prepare financial models to assess impairments, if any related to goodwill, non-amortizing intangible assets, and long-lived assets, including maintaining and executing the Company’s goodwill valuation models.
    • Perform technical accounting analysis over a broad range of transactions including, but not limited to debt, equity, business combination, divestures, and derivatives.
    • Maintain consistent and sustainable process with effective controls for raising, evaluating and documenting technical issues for resolution with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
    • Coordinate with other accounting and reporting teams within the Company in regards to implementing the accounting policies, procedures, and reporting for significant and unusual transactions and business processes.
    • Remain current on new and proposed accounting regulations, and agenda items of standard setters for private companies.
    • Assist APFM in establishing or revising accounting policy to reflect changes US GAAP and external reporting.
    • Proactively follow and inform the Controller’s leadership team of new accounting , proposed regulations, and agenda items of standard setters.
    • Liaise with external auditors to evaluate and resolve conclusions on technical accounting matters.
    • Assist in the preparation of clear and concise documentation of technical analyses and conclusions.
    • Provide technical assistance on accounting for complex debt transactions.
    • Update and maintain the Company's accounting policies and procedures.
    • Identify compliance risks and take actions necessary to eliminate or minimize risks.

    Qualifications

    • 5-8 years of accounting and reporting experience, work experience, with at least 4-5 years of public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm serving publicly traded companies.
    • A strong working knowledge of US GAAP (IFRS and operational accounting are a plus).
    • A self-starter with intellectual curiosity to perform in-depth/board financial and accounting analyses with the ability to connect information together
    • Successful track record in managing teams without direct authority and partnering with individuals at all levels at a cross-functional team settings.
    • Results-oriented with high initiative and ability to think independently.
    • Ability to implement and adapt to new technology, process, and relevant data requirements for business/accounting processes.
    • Highly detail oriented and organized in work; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment
    • Demonstrate communication ability to prepare formal written accounting position papers and excellent communication skills to persuade and explain complex accounting issues to non-accountants.

     

     

    Education Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field
    • CPA 
    • An advanced degree is preferred.

     

    Compensation

    The position is a salaried, exempt position.
