    A Place for Mom is looking for a Product Specialist who is responsible for translating high level business requirements into technical requirements and delivering functional specification documents for complex product features by working in close partnership with stakeholders, engineers and user experience designers.  

    The Product Specialist is a key leader of the development team that is jointly responsible for the successful delivery of projects for the A Place for Mom website and ensuring that the functionality delivered meets the customer needs. This person must want to delight their customer.


    • Capturing requirements from various groups
    • Responsible for both business and functional requirements management
    • Coordinating Technical feasibility
    • Making functional and technical design recommendations
    • Creating User Stories and Use Cases
    • Creating functional specification document
    • Ability to assess customer interaction use cases
    • Responsible for status updates
    • Ensuring functional specification matches business intent and goals
    • Providing visibility to project team and Business Owners on changes to a project
    • Providing transparency and recommendations on project trade-offs
    • Providing stage gate management and aid in overall project governance
    • Leading change management process
    • Providing dependency coordination
    • Leading specification, UI, and scope sign-off process
    • Performing light Project Management, including active mitigation of any and all risks to the project scope and schedule
    • Managing pipeline view of end to end dedicated area
    • Identifying gaps and conflicts in requirements and drives toward solution
    • Ability to assess technical solutions fits business objectives
    • Surfacing technical and scope trade-offs required to allow Business Owners to make informed decisions
    • Aiding in management and triage of defects for functional areas of responsibility


    • Knowledge of customer engagement and online marketing best practices such as personalization, community and member experience.
    • Ability to think strategically and understand the overarching business goals.
    • Experience in an Agile (SCRUM) environment.
    • Experience in functional analysis and business requirements identification.
    • Experience in developing technical and functional specification documents.
    • Experience in development of Use cases and user stories.
    • Experience with the use of off shore/nearshore resources.
    • Solid understanding of Project Management principals.
    • Understanding of non functional requirements.
    • Demonstrated ability to think through detailed technology initiatives and requirements.
    • In depth understanding of Change Management processes.
    • In Depth understanding of Defect Management processes, including requirements traceability.
    • Superb conceptual thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Development and User Experience Design experience/knowledge.
    • Good prioritization skills.
    • Knowledge of web based architecture.
    • Proven ability to deliver projects in a variety of SDLC techniques (i.e Agile, Waterfall) in dynamic environments.
    • Proactively initiates relationships across the company, gathers requirements, and communicates to manager and team.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.
    • Ability to work independently, requiring minimal check-ins with manager.
    • Mentor and provide subject area guidance to team members and cross-departmental teams.
    • Desire and ability to lead, take a stand, or advocate a feature, and present market facts and data to back up your position.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines while managing multiple projects.
    • Healthcare, or healthcare related industry experience a plus.
