    Job Description


    The Software Architect leads the platform vision, definition and solution design for APFM Websites and Web Services. The Architect is instrumental in defining architecture, technical requirements and deliverables necessary for the team to execute on the vision. This position has a deep background developing scalable and performant web applications and services that power these websites with progressive experience as a leader. The Architect has designed, built and maintained high volume consumer facing web applications and has a firm grasp of cloud services and APIs. This position is comfortable functioning with an emphasis on solutions architect or software architect depending on the need.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Bring 10+ years’ full stack software experience across multiple technologies, languages and frameworks, 2+ years in an architect role
    • Draw on experience to lead technical designs and implementation of highly scalable and adaptable systems
    • Collaborate with senior engineers and technical product/program managers to plan and deliver solutions
    • Leverage past experience to quickly and efficiently define caching architectures, services orchestration, personalization and security that deliver a performant and delightful end user experience.
    • Leverage your experience designing scalable, resilient and secure systems
    • Leverage past-experience with Agile software development to help improve the solutions iteratively
    • Quickly learn and become a subject matter expert for the A Place for Mom websites and applications based on similar past experience
    • Help design and organize solutions to maximize DevOps
    • Other tasks as assigned


    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Experience designing and building highly scalable and performant web applications and systems
    • Experience designing and building orchestration layers
    • Diverse background with data storage and messaging technologies (RDBMS, NoSql, Document Store, in memory key/value, search systems, eventing, pub-sub and MQs)
    • Cloud experience designing and delivering solutions using both containers and serverless services in AWS
    • Experience with native AWS database and messaging solutions
    • Experience with a width of technologies including nodeJS, nGinx, React, Kinesis, ElasticSearch, Redis, SNS, SQS, Cognito and Terraform


    Education Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree required.
